About Malachi

Malachi has been teaching yoga since 1998 following a back injury during her competitive running days.  After concluding a BA in psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and finishing massage school, she completed both her 200 and 300-hour teacher training at Yoga Works in LA under the tutelage of founder, Maty Ezraty and senior Iyengar instructor, Lisa Walford.  Malachi has acquired countless continuing education hours in yoga therapeutics, pre and post-natal yoga, anatomy, pranayama, and meditation. Recently she became certified as a personal trainer with a specialization in corrective exercise and nutrition through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

For over 22 years Malachi served as an instructor at Yoga Works in Santa Monica, Ca.  She is a E-RYT 500-hour Yoga Alliance instructor and has instructed over twenty 200-hour teacher trainings as the lead instructor, also serving as a regular mentor in the 300-hour training.  For her last decade in LA she also taught at the premier gym, Equinox, and assumed the role as in-house yoga therapist for Sportsfit Physical Therapy in Marina Del Rey. Malachi has graced the cover of Yoga Journal, Yoga International and several yoga books. She loves to lead workshops and nurture people on retreat.

Malachi’s teaching philosophy is deeply influenced by her primary mentors; Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller, Lisa Walford, Annie Carpenter, and Patanjali.   She integrates her expertise in anatomy, movement, breath and mindful listening to guide her students in a moving meditation via the body.  Her classes can most easily be described as deeply thoughtful and intentional vinyasa yoga.

Malachi is trauma-informed informed, intuitive, and approaches students with love and mindfulness, offering gentle and informative hands-on adjustments. In her asana instruction, she encourages seeing the body as a tool for cultivating attention, discernment, equanimity and freedom, while also emphasizing the impermanence of the physical form and the importance of letting go.

Most recently, having a short and transformative 5-month adventure to Costa Rica with her family, Malachi has happily landed in Bend, Oregon with her two daughters, puppy, and kitten.
